Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (encrypted).
- Recipe Data: Recipes you save, including titles, ingredients, instructions, images, and source URLs.
- Payment Information: When you upgrade to Premium, payment details are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Number of recipes saved, subscription status, and account activity.
- Browser Extension Activity: We only access webpage content when you actively click the Recipeez extension icon. We do not track your browsing activity or monitor which websites you visit.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Recipeez service
- Create and manage your account
- Store and sync your saved recipes across devices
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send important service announcements and updates
- Respond to your support requests
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services like Supabase (database hosting) and Stripe (payment processing) to operate our service. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
- Business Transfers: If Recipeez is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption:
- Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing
- Data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections
- Our database is hosted by Supabase with enterprise-grade security
While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your saved recipes in your dashboard
- Deletion: You can delete individual recipes or contact us to delete your entire account
- Export: Premium users can export recipes to PDF
- Opt-out: You can uninstall the extension at any time
6. Browser Permissions
Recipeez requires the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab: To extract recipe content from the current page when you click the extension icon
- storage: To store your login information and sync settings
Important: We only access webpage content when you actively click the Recipeez icon. We do not monitor your browsing activity or collect data in the background.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use minimal cookies and local storage to:
- Keep you logged in
- Remember your preferences
- Authenticate API requests
We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
8. Children's Privacy
Recipeez is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@whachagot.com.
9. International Users
Recipeez is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
